We are honored to feature Mr. Bouflet, a distinguished expert in international trade policy and law, whose career spans more than 37 years at the European Commission and across key diplomatic and legal roles in Europe and Asia.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bouflet has held a wide range of senior positions in government, foreign service, and international law, contributing directly to some of the European Union’s most important trade frameworks. He played a role in negotiations linked to the World Trade Organization, supported the accession of Sweden, Finland, and Austria to the EU, and represented the EU in numerous WTO dispute settlement proceedings.

His experience in Asia is particularly notable. As Head of Trade Affairs in Thailand and later Deputy Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam, Mr. Bouflet was deeply involved in strengthening EU–Asia economic relations. In Vietnam, he served as a lead negotiator for the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA)—a landmark agreement that continues to shape trade and investment flows between Europe and Vietnam today.

Currently, as Vice-Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam in charge of Advocacy, Mr. Bouflet plays a central role in representing the voice of European businesses, working closely with policymakers to improve the regulatory environment and promote sustainable, high-quality investment. He also serves on the board of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), further strengthening ties between European enterprises and the Vietnamese market.

With his depth of experience, strategic insight, and long-standing commitment to fostering international cooperation, Mr. Bouflet remains a trusted advisor and influential figure in the business and policy landscape.
