We are proud to feature Erick Contreras, a seasoned executive leading one of the world’s most influential chemical companies in Vietnam—BASF—and a strong advocate for sustainable industrial development.

As Managing Director of BASF Vietnam, Erick brings a well-rounded background that combines engineering expertise with commercial leadership. Prior to his current role, he held senior positions across marketing and sales in fuels, lubricants, and gas treatment at BASF in Hong Kong and Australia, and built his technical foundation through hands-on experience in process engineering and refinery operations with Shell in Malaysia and the Philippines.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Erick is deeply engaged in shaping Vietnam’s green growth agenda. He currently serves as Co-Chair of EuroCham Vietnam’s Green Growth Sector Committee, and represents EuroCham in the Vietnam Business Forum Environment Working Group Steering Committee. He has also played a key role in organizing flagship initiatives such as the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE), contributing to the dialogue between government and business on sustainable development.

In addition, Erick has contributed his expertise as part of the technical advisory board for the Alliance to End Plastic Waste Vietnam Flagship Project, reinforcing his commitment to environmental responsibility and circular economy solutions.

With an academic background in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines and an MBA from the University of Manchester, Erick combines technical depth, global experience, and strategic vision to drive both business growth and sustainability impact.
